What Is Heaven Like According to Scripture?

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.”

What Will We Do in Heaven?

In heaven, believers will experience unbroken fellowship with God. Revelation 22:3-4 reveals that “His servants will serve Him… They will see His face.” This indicates closeness with God that surpasses anything we’ve known on earth.

We will worship God continually (Revelation 7:15), rejoice in His presence, and enjoy rest from earthly burdens (Hebrews 4:9). Far from being idle, heaven will be filled with meaningful worship, joy, and possibly responsibilities suited to our eternal state—without sin, weariness, or sorrow.

Comfort for the Grieving

Grief is a natural response to loss, but the Bible offers comfort. In Matthew 5:4, Jesus states, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” This verse reminds us that God is close to the brokenhearted and offers solace during times of sorrow.

Knowing that we are not alone allows us to face death with confidence and serenity.

The Hope of Entering Heaven

Jesus gave His disciples—and all believers—a powerful promise in John 14:2-3:

“In my Father’s house are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you… I will come again and will take you to myself.”
